Report: Tottenham in ‘pole position’ to sign 20-year-old in the summer

Over the last few days there has been plenty of speculation coming from Italy linking Tottenham Hotspur with a move for Sampdoria wonderkid, Mikkel Damsgaard.

Damsgaard has only been in the Serie A for little over a year but is already making waves with his performances after establishing himself as a key part of Claudio Ranieri’s side.

Tuesday’s print edition of La Repubblica reported that Tottenham and Juventus were both ‘crazy’ about the tricky wide man and had already inquired about his availability during the summer transfer window.

However, Gazzetta dello Sport claimed that Spurs are likely to face plenty of competition for the 20-year-old, with half of the teams in the Premier League monitoring the youngster.

Tuttosport have now reported (as relayed by FC Inter News) that Tottenham and Juve are in the pole positions to snap up the Denmark international in the summer.

However, the report adds that Inter Milan could also push the two clubs for the Sampdoria star, who has scored twice and assisted four times in the Serie A this season.

Unless these publications are simply picking up and relaying what each other are reporting or Damsgaard’s agent has thrown our name in the mix to boost interest, the fact that multiple sources are linking Spurs with the Dane would suggest that our interest is genuine.
