Report: Tottenham in talks to sign Serie A star on a free transfer

According to Sport Italia journalist, Alessandro Jacobone, Tottenham Hotspur are trying to sign AC Milan’s Franck Kessie on a free transfer next summer.

Nuno Espirito Santo has started with a central midfielder trio of Oliver Skipp, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Dele Alli in his first two Premier League games in charge.

However, if reports are to be believed, there could be some wholesale changes to Nuno’s midfield ranks before the transfer window shuts.

Moussa Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele have both been linked with moves away while the North London club have also been heavily linked with approaches for the likes of Pape Sarr, Nahitan Nandez and Weston McKennie

Kessie was also linked with a move to Spurs earlier in the summer, with the AC Milan midfielder’s agent admitting back in June that Tottenham were showing interested in his client.

Jacobone has now claimed that Fabio Paratici is indeed looking to bring Kessie to Tottenham but next summer rather than this one.

The Ivory Coast international is now into the final year of his contract with AC Milan and the journalist claims Spurs have offered the 24-year-old a five-year contract worth €8m per season (£6.9m per season or £132,000 per week).

Snapping up Kessie on a free transfer would be an unbelievable piece of business. However, if Milan cannot agree on a new contract with the midfielder, they would likely want to cash in on him this summer.

One reason why Spurs might be targetting Kessie for next summer rather than this one could be the complications they are facing in shifting Ndombele during the current economic climate.
