Report: Tottenham injury and suspension news ahead of Southampton clash

Tottenham Hotspur travel to Southampton on New Year’s Day as two key players return from suspension but a number of first-team stars miss out (Sports Mole and Premier Injuries).

Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks were both unavailable for selection against Norwich City but return for Wednesday’s game after serving a one-match ban due to yellow card accumulations.

However, Heung Min-Son will miss the trip to St Mary’s as he faces the final game of his three-match ban that stemmed from violent conduct against Chelsea.

As expected Hugo Lloris is still not available after dislocating his elbow in the match against Brighton & Hove Albion in October. Lloris was set to return in January but is pencilled in for a comeback in February.

Jan Vertonghen looks set to continue to at left-back with Danny Rose and Ben Davies out for Wednesday trip to St Mary’s.

Ben Davies suffered an ankle injury in Jose Mourinho’s first game in charge against West Ham United.

Danny Rose missed out on the trip to Norwich City after sustaining a muscular injury earlier in the week, leading the Englishmen to be a major doubt against Southampton.

Spurs Web Opinion

Despite poor performances against Brighton. The return of Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks will be key in keeping the squad fresh. Spurs failed to control the counter-attacks on Norwich City and Moussa Sissoko is the player to stop them against Norwich City. However, I feel the Ben Davies would be vital in Jose’s team at the moment with Jan Vertoghen struggling at left-back.
