Report: Tottenham interested in 18-year-old who just netted a hat-trick

According to a report from the Daily Mail, Tottenham Hotspur are one of many European clubs interested in signing Gambian wonderkid Adama Bojang after his impressive displays at the Africa Cup of Nations U20 tournament.

Bojang currently plays his club football for Gambian side Steve Biko FC, but at the rate he is scoring right now, the 18-year-old could be set for a move away from Africa in the near future.

Gambia are through to the semi-finals of the AFCON U20 competition that’s going on at the moment, and it was Bojang who propelled his nation into the last four with a formidable display in the previous round.

Bojang scored a hat-trick against South Sudan as part of a 5-0 win.

Bojang has been nicknamed the ‘Gambian Hurricane’, and the athletic striker’s prolific displays have caught the eye of many clubs now.

The report claims Tottenham Hotspur have been scouting the Gambian frontman, while fellow Premier League side Nottingham Forest are doing the same.

On his latest performance, Bojang told the media: “I feel so excited to score a hat-trick; these are my first goals in this tournament.

“Coming to this tournament and showing my talent to Africa and the world, and having a hat-trick for my country as a youngster, is so amazing.”

It is thought Ajax and Marseille are also keeping tabs on the youngster.

The report adds that Bojang himself has made it clear he would like to make a name for himself and attract attention from Europe in order to secure a big move.

Bojang sounds like a good prospect and it’s great that we are keeping tabs on him, but I’m sure it will take more than one game for any club to make a move for him.

If he continues to light up the tournament, then it would be worth considering an approach for sure.
