Report: Tottenham interested in attacker who lit up Copa America

According to a report in Antena 2, Tottenham Hotspur could make a move for Porto forward Luis Diaz on the back of his impressive displays during the Copa America tournament.

Diaz has been a revelation since moving to Portuguese football in 2019, with the wide attacker registering 11 goals and six assists for the club during the precious season.

The 24-year-old took his impressive club form into the Copa America and was Colombia’s standout player in the tournament with four goals in five matches as Reinaldo Rueda’s side finished in third place.

Antena 2 now reports that the Porto star’s displays have caught the attention of a number of clubs including Tottenham.

It is alleged that Spurs have been tracking Diaz since his days in Colombian football and could now make an offer for the player this summer.

However, it is suggested that the Lilywhites could face competition from AS Roma and Inter Milan, both of whom have also expressed interest in the wide forward.

Finally, it is revealed that while Diaz’s release clause stands at €80m (£68.3m), while his true market value is a more realistic €18m (£15.3m).

Whether we go in for any wide forwards will likely depend on whether Nuno sees the likes of Lucas, Berwijn and Lamela having a part to play in his system. I would not be surprised if the club decided to cash in on two of those three this summer.
