Report: Tottenham interested in Liverpool player who is keen to leave Anfield

According to 90 min, Tottenham Hotspur are interested in Liverpool centre-back Joe Gomez, who is keen to leave Anfield in the summer.

Gomez built an impressive partnership at the back with Virgil van Dijk in previous seasons and was a regular in England squads but the centre-back has struggled for game time this season since returning from his knee injury.

The 24-year-old has now dropped to fourth choice at Anfield behind both Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate and has started just one Premier League game this season (Transfermarkt).

90 min claim that Gomez is worried about not making the England squad for the Qatar World Cup which starts in November.

The centre-back is thus thought to be keen on leaving Liverpool in the summer in search of regular first-team football and is said to be hopeful that his club will allow him to leave.

However, it is explained that the Reds will want a big fee for the defender, who will have two years left on his deal in the summer.

90 min name Tottenham, Newcastle and West Ham and Leicester as the leading contenders for Gomez’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

Gomez is an excellent defender and has been unlucky to drop down the pecking order to Liverpool.

I believe he will be an excellent acquisition for Spurs and would be able to play either side of the central sweeper in Conte’s back three.

The 24-year-old will certainly be an upgrade over both Joe Rodon and Davinson Sanchez.
