Report: Tottenham interested in signing £30m-rated Barcelona man

According to a report in The Mirror, Tottenham are interested in singing Barcelona right-back Nelson Semedo this summer.

The report claims that Barcelona are open to selling the Portuguese full-back this summer after he has failed to nail down a starting spot at the Camp Nou since moving from Benfica back in the summer of 2017.

The 25-year-old featured 26 times in the league for the Catalan giants but found himself on the bench for several big games as Barca manager Ernesto Valverde preferred Sergio Roberto to the former Benfica man.

Right back is one of the positions in which Spurs are looking for upgrades with reports indicating that Kieran Trippier is on his way out of the club. The England international has had a poor season at Spurs following a great showing in last summer’s World Cup and has been linked with the likes of Atletico Madrid and Napoli (The Mirror).

Spurs have been linked with the Norwich City’s Max Aarons and Crystal Palace’s Aaron Wan-Bassaka (The Sun), both of whom are talented but relatively inexperienced.

Samedo will be a brilliant addition for Tottenham as not only does he have the pace and energy to go up and down the pitch for 90 minutes, but he is also proven at the highest level.

While his performances at Barcelona have left a lot to be desired, the 25-year-old is clearly talented and will give Pochettino’s team the attacking impetus they have been missing from the full-back positions since the departure of Kyle Walker to Manchester City a couple of seasons ago.
