Tottenham Hotspur may be short on central defenders come the end of this season, with Jan Vertonghen and Toby Alderweireld both coming towards the ends of their contracts.
If both of the Belgian duo did leave on free transfers in 2020, Spurs would be left with the likes of Davinson Sanchez and Juan Foyth as senior central defenders, with Japhet Tanganga and Cameron Carter-Vickers as youth options. Eric Dier can also cover.
Clubcall have now reported that Spurs are interested in signing Red Star Belgrade defender, Strahinja Erakovic in 2020.
Both Tottenham and Man City apparently recently watched the player on loan at Graficar in Serbia recently.
This comes after Telegraf linked Spurs to the same player back in February of 2018, meaning this could be a long-term target of the North London club.
Erakovic is only 18-years of age, but only signed a new contract with Red Star last week.
The player’s agent believes that Erakovic could cost more than Liverpool paid for Red Star’s Marko Grujic in 2016, which was £5.1m (HITC).
