Report: Tottenham keen on Bundesliga central defender

Tottenham Hotspur’s new managing director of football, Fabio Paratici is keen for the club to sign Wolfsburg defender Maxence Lacroix, according to Gianluca di Marzio.

The 21-year-old centre-back was a key part of Wolfsburg’s impressive 2020/21 campaign, which saw them finish fourth in the Bundesliga table.

Lacroix made 36 appearances in all competitions in what was his first season in senior football (transfermarkt).

Football.London have previously revealed that could be in the market for as many as two central defenders during the current transfer window.

Lacroix, who is under contract until 2023 has previously been linked with RB Leipzig and Borussia Dortmund (Bulinews).

Tottenham’s rivals Chelsea are also said to be keen on the Frenchman, who only moved to Wolfsburg from Sochaux last August (Sky Germany).

Wolfsburg are not looking to sell Lacroix, who they value at around £25million with the club’s sporting director Marcel Schafer previously revealing that he expects him to remain with the German outfit (Kicker).

Lacroix has built quite the reputation for himself following his exploits in Germany last season. At 21, he is still a raw talent but has shown that he has the potential to become at top central defender.
