Report: Tottenham keeping eye on second EFL defender as well as Swansea’s Rodon

According to Sky Sports’ Live transfer blog (October 6, 03:53 am), Swansea City’s Joe Rodon is not the only centre-back whom Tottenham Hotspur have their eye on ahead of the October 16 deadline.

Tottenham reportedly turned their attentions to Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger on deadline day after the club’s pursuit of Inter Milan’s Milan Skriniar collapsed (Football Insider).

However, with Rudiger deciding to stay at Stamford Bridge and fight for his place (Football.London), Rodon seems to be the man on Tottenham’s radar, with Premier League clubs allowed to buy from the EFL until October 16 (The Athletic).

Alasdair Gold has revealed that Spurs are in no hurry to get a deal for the Swansea man over the line as they do not plan to use him for the Europa League group stage, the squad for which has to be submitted on Tuesday night.

While Sky Sports have also confirmed that Rodon is of interest to Spurs, they claim that the Lilywhites also have their eye on another central defender from the EFL.

The report does not reveal the identity of the player in question but suggests that Tottenham are considering both options.
