Report: Tottenham left-back in ‘advanced talks’ over North London exit

Tottenham Hotspur left-back Dennis Cirkin could be set to leave the club, with Football Insider reporting that he is in advanced talks with Sunderland.

Cirkin signed his first professional contract with Spurs less than a fortnight after Jose Mourinho had become the club’s new head coach and was singled out for praise by the Portuguese (Football.London).

Mourinho revealed that he decided to involve Cirkin in first-team training after watching footage of him in action in the UEFA Youth League.

The 19-year-old is yet to make a senior appearance for the North Londoners, despite being involved with the first team on a number of occasions and has found the likes of Ben Davies, Sergio Reguilon and Ryan Sessegnon ahead of him in the pecking order.

Cirkin has a bright future in the game but has a difficult route to first-team football at Tottenham. Dropping down to League One to play week in, week out will only benefit his career progression.
