Report: Tottenham likely to demand £20m for any sale of 24-year-old

Tottenham are likely to demand £20 million for the sale of Joe Rodon in January with Newcastle now in the running for his signature, according to CBS Sports.

The 24-year-old has found opportunities hard to come by in North London since completing a move from Swansea in October 2020.

He has made just six appearances for Spurs this term and hasn’t featured in the Premier League since the defeat to Crystal Palace back in September.

The limited minutes have led to reports suggesting that Rodon is unhappy with his current role in the fold and intends to seek an exit from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this winter.

However, CBS Sports report that Spurs will demand around £20 million from potential suitors for a permanent transfer of the Wales international.

The report adds that Newcastle remain interested in Rodon, but feel the valuation exceeds their expectations and would be open to securing a loan deal instead.

It is also stated that Brighton are keeping tabs on the situation but any deal in January is preferred to be a permanent one over a short-term move.

Rodon just isn’t getting the opportunities at Spurs as there are just too many players ahead of him in the pecking order. He is at an age where he really needs to be playing every single week, and that isn’t happening at Spurs. If Spurs do manage to sell him for £20 million, that is decent business.
