Report: Tottenham likely to scout 22-year-old striker during World Cup

Reports out of Italy suggest Tottenham Hotspur will be keeping an eye on Mohamed Kudus during the World Cup (Corriere dello Sport – via Sport Witness 18/11/22).

It’s pretty standard for club scouts from all over the world to travel to the tournament each time it comes around, as there’s always the chance that fresh talent will step up and make itself known on the big stage.

One of the hottest talents around Europe at the moment is Ajax youngster Mohamed Kudus. The Ghana international already has ten goals and two assists in the first 21 appearances this season (Transfermarkt).

That kind of form has attracted a lot of attention for Kudus, who will play for Ghana at the World Cup in Qatar. He also has five goals in his first 18 caps for his country (Transfermarkt) and it’s expected he can add more during the tournament.

According to Corriere dello Sport (via Sport Witness 18/11/22), Serie A side AC Milan will also have an eye on Spurs youngster Pape Matar Sarr, who will turn out for Senegal at the World Cup, which could start a domino effect in the transfer market.

The Italian giants have “not stopped following” since his move to Spurs and could look to take advantage of the fact he is on the peripheries of Antonio Conte’s squad.

The report describes the World Cup as a “prestigious showcase” for emerging talent, and the attacking returns of Kudus have not gone “unnoticed” it seems. Tottenham Hotspur are believed to be keen admirers of the 22-year-old.

Spurs Web Opinion

I like the look of Mohamed Kudus, but it’s a little too early to tell if he’s the real deal or just a flash in the pan, especially given the different standards in the Eredivisie compared to the English Premier League. It would also be a shame to see Pape Matar Sarr leave the club, as I think he’s a real talent for the future.
