Report: Tottenham-linked attacker has now been offered to Chelsea

The Daily Mail have claimed that rumoured Tottenham target Memphis Depay has now been offered to Chelsea.

Sport reported on Monday that Spurs had enquired about Depay during their negotiations with Barcelona for Lenglet.

The report stated that even though the Netherlands international wanted to stay at the Camp Nou, he accepts that he will be sold this summer if a suitable offer came Barca’s way.

Gerard Romero subsequently revealed on Thursday that Barca have informed Depay, who scored 12 league goals last season (Transfermarkt), he will be sold this summer if Ousmane Dembele stays at the club.

The journalist added that the Catalan club are likely to demand between €20m-€25m (£17.1m-£21.4m) for the Dutchman.

The Mail have now revealed that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly flew to Barcelona on Thursday to discuss deals for several players.

The La Liga giants are said to be keen on signing Cesar Azpilicueta and Marcos Alonso and are allegedly prepared to include Depay as a makeweight in the deal.

Spurs Web Opinion

I do not think the speculation linking Depay to Spurs has any legs. Assuming Moura stays, I do not see us signing another attacker in this window. I also do not think Depay would be particularly keen on the move as he would not get much game time at Tottenham.
