Report: Tottenham are weighing up a move for Serie A left wing-back

Tottenham Hotspur are weighing up a move for Atalanta wing-back Joakim Maehle ahead of the summer transfer window, according to the Daily Mail.

The Danish international operates on the left-hand side of the defence and is said to be considered as the perfect fit for Antonio Conte’s style of play.

The north Londoners currently have Ryan Sessegnon and Sergio Reguilon as the options to play at left wing back, with Reguilon said to be one of eight players which Spurs are prepared to listen to offers for this summer in order to raise funds as part of Conte’s rebuild of the squad (Evening Standard).

Maehle played a pivotal part in Denmark’s journey to the semi-final stage of Euro 2020 and has gone on to make 33 appearances for Atalanta this season in all competitions, scoring three goals and delivering two assists (transfermarkt).

Tottenham need wing-backs who are more capable of being an attacking threat in the final third and also able to deliver dangerous balls into the area for the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son to finish.

Reguilon has shown glimpses on occasions of his crossing ability but lacks consistency while Sessegnon’s injury issues have hampered his progress.
