Report: Tottenham linked with move for Serie A winger

According to a report in Club Doria, Tottenham Hotspur are one of the front-runners in the race for Sampdoria winger Mikkel Damsgaard.

Sampdoria signed Damsgaard from Nordsjaelland for €6m (£5.4m) last February and the wide man has established himself as an important part of Claudio Ranieri’s side.

The 20-year-old has made 18 Serie A appearances this season, 10 of which have been in the starting eleven, scoring two and delivering three assists (transfermarkt).

Tottenham’s interest in the wide player was first reported by Tuttosport at the start of this month, with the report claiming that Spurs were competing with Bayer Leverkusen for the youngster’s signature.

Club Doria claim that Tottenham and West Ham have both enquired about Damsgaard, with Jose Mourinho being keen on bringing him to North London.

It is said that Spurs are expected to submit an offer ‘at any moment’ for the Denmark international but the report concludes that the Sampdoria starlet is more likely to leave in the summer than during the current month.

Spurs Web Opinion

It is clear that another winger is the last thing we need at the moment. Journalists close to Tottenham have not said anything regarding the club’s interest in Damsgaard. With the speculation only emanating from sources in Italy, it could be that the player’s agent is throwing Spurs’ name into the mix to potentially get him a pay rise or a big move.
