Report: Tottenham locked in a five-way battle for Liverpool player this summer

According to a report from The Daily Mirror, Tottenham are one of five Premier League sides interested in signing Adam Lallana this summer.

Reports indicate that Spurs will primarily target loan deals and free agents at the end of the season as they lack the available funds to invest in cash-heavy deals (Telegraph).

Lallana is one high profile name who could potentially be available on a free transfer with the midfielder’s current Liverpool contract set to run out in the next month.

It is claimed that the 32-year-old will leave Anfield in search of regular first-team football and that Spurs, Arsenal, West Ham, Leicester, and Burnley are all interested in signing him.

The Mirror suggests that Leicester are the front-runners for the England international’s signature as the Foxes may be able to provide Lallana with Champions League football.

Lallana is also said to have a good relationship with Brendon Rodgers, with the current Leicester boss being the man who first signed him for Liverpool back in 2014.

However, TEAMtalk claim that there is still a chance that the former Saints midfielder could be offered a one-year extension by Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Lallana on a free transfer might be a tempting proposition for several clubs in the Premier League, I am not sure where he would fit in at Spurs. He isn’t a like-for-like replacement for Eriksen and we already have players with similar characteristics in Dele, Lamela, and Lo Celso.
