Report: Tottenham locked in three-horse race for Chilean international

TuttoMercatoWeb have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur are battling Aston Villa and AC Milan for Chilean wonderkid Dario Osorio.

Osorio first broke into Universidad de Chile’s first team 18 months ago and the winger has established himself as a regular in the side over recent months, having scored seven times in 27 appearances in the top-flight (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham’s interest in the 19-year-old first came to light last week when Las Ultimas Noticias (26/01/23 as relayed by Sport Witness) revealed that the North Londoners and Aston Villa were both eyeing a move for the teenager.

The report explained that Wolves had failed with a move for Osorio back in the summer and added that the teenager is unlikely to leave Universidad de Chile before the January window closes.

However, if TMW’s latest update is to be believed, the race for the winger is heating up ahead of the transfer deadline.

The publication states that Milan have also entered into negotiations with Universidad de Chile over Osorio for a fee of around €5m (£4.3m) but Villa are thought to be willing to offer a higher price for the player.

The report adds that the Rossoneri must also be wary of Tottenham, who have ‘come forward in recent days’ for the Chile international.

Spurs Web Opinion

Osorio will likely be viewed as a smart investment for the future rather than a player who would strengthen the first team right now. So, all three of the aforementioned clubs will likely be holding talks regarding a deal for next summer rather than one before this evening’s transfer deadline.
