According to the print edition of The Daily Mirror (3 July, page 74), Tottenham Hotspur are looking to sign Everton winger Anthony Gordon for a cut-price fee of £10m this summer.
Tottenham have already signed one player from Everton during the transfer window in the form of Richarlison.
Spurs also reportedly expressed an interest in Gordon during negotiations with the Toffees over the Brazilian forward, with the 21-year-old said to be keen on making a move to the North London club (Football.London).
Sky Sports’ Lyall Thomas revealed last week that Spurs cooled their interest in the winger after Everton informed the Lilywhites that he was not for sale.
This has also been backed up by The Athletic’s Charlie Eccleshare, who said on Last Word on Spurs YouTube channel that the Merseyside club are unlikely to sell Gordon as Frank Lampard wants to build his team around the youngster.
However, if The Mirror’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs still have not given up on their pursuit of Gordon and Antonio Conte’s men believe they could get a cut-price deal by offsetting a part of the fee that Everton may owe for Dele Alli.
The report explains that while Alli moved to Goodison Park on a free transfer, Everton could owe Spurs as much as £40m if the attacking midfielder becomes a regular first-team player next season.
The Mirror suggest that although Lampard’s men value Gordon at around £30m, Tottenham could sign Gordon by offering a £10m cash top-up while the remaining amount can be adjusted with Alli’s deal.
Spurs Web Opinion
I do not think Everton are likely to sell Gordon this summer as selling one of their own would create outrage among the club’s fan base. Even in the small chance that the Toffees do decide to cash in on the 21-year-old, they are likely to value him at higher than £30m.
