Report: Tottenham lose out in race for exciting 20-year-old striker

According to L’Equipe, Strasbourg have beaten Tottenham Hotspur to the signing of Dutch starlet Emanuel Emegha.

Emegha first hit the spotlight when he made his senior debut for Sparta Rotterdam in 2020, aged just 17, with the centre-forward being snapped up by Royal Antwerp in January of last year following some impressive showings for his boyhood club.

The centre-forward caught the eye during his first full season in the Belgian top flight, scoring nine goals and providing three assists in 27 league matches across 2022-23 (Transfermarkt).

Spurs and AC Milan both miss out on Emegha

If L’Equipe’s latest update is to be believed, the 20-year-old is now on his way to Strasbourg despite the fact that Spurs showed interest in signing him.

The publication claims that the Ligue 1 side saw off competition from both Tottenham and AC Milan to win the race for Emegha’s signature.

The report asserts that Strasbourg will pay €12m (£10.3m) to bring the former Netherlands Under-19 international to Stade de la Meinau.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is nothing concrete to suggest that Tottenham seriously considered a move for Emegha this summer.

Spurs already have quite a few talented strikers coming through the ranks in the form of Dane Scarlett, Troy Parrott, Will Lankshear and Jude Soonsup-Bell.
