Report: Tottenham made Harry Kane u-turn ahead of Villa game due to ‘timing issues’

The Daily Mirror have revealed that Harry Kane was due to receive five Player of the Year awards before Tottenham’s game against Aston Villa on Wednesday evening but the club decided against going ahead with the presentation.

The 10,000 Spurs fans who returned to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for final home game of the season were left extremely disappointed after Ryan Mason’s men put in a shocking display against Villa.

The 2-1 scoreline flattered Spurs, with the Villans a bag-full of chances to add to their lead.

Kane looked to be emotional during his lap of honour around the pitch after the final whistle, leading some to believe that the striker was saying goodbye to the Tottenham faithful.

The Mirror claim that the England captain was due to receive multiple awards in front of Spurs fans before kick-off.

Spurs insist that the presentation did not happen due to timing issues and that the striker will receive the gongs at the training ground today, despite the fact that Heung-min Son was given his award on the night of the match.

It was also revealed that Erik Lamela will receive his Goal of the Season award following his effort against Arsenal at a later date.
