Report: Tottenham make £9m offer for Brazilian starlet

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Tottenham Hotspur have submitted an offer to sign Sao Paulo starlet Igor Gomes.

With just two weeks left until the transfer window shuts, Spurs are reportedly prioritising two more defensive additions and one creative player (Alasdair Gold).

Spurs have already acquired an exciting young attacking talent this summer in the form of Bryan Gil and if Konur’s latest update is to be believed Fabio Paratici has now set his sights on Gomes.

The attacking midfielder has established himself as a regular in Sao Paulo side over the last couple of years, having scored 10 goals in 125 matches.

Konur has revealed that Spurs have offered Sao Paulo $12m (£8.6m) for the technically gifted youngster, who has represented Brazil at Under-20 and Under-23 levels.

Brazilian news outlet Esporte News Mundo elaborate on Tottenham’s offer for the attacking midfielder but add that Sao Paulo are hesitant to sell any of their players in the middle of their Brasileiro Serie A and Libertadores campaigns.

Spurs Web Opinion

If we are to make just two or three more signings (as some sources seem to suggest), one would think an attacking midfielder would not be a priority. We are much more likely to go after another centre-back, a right-back and a backup striker (assuming Kane stays).
