Tottenham Hotspur have enquired about the availability of Wolfsberg defender Maxence Lacroix, according to Eurosport.
Spurs have been linked with a number of rumoured central defensive targets ahead of the new season with the club keen to add a player with leadership qualities to their back line (transfermarkt).
Lacroix’s efforts in the Bundesliga are said not to have gone unnoticed with RB Leipzig seen on landing the Frenchman and have already had an opening bid rejected (Sky Deutschland).
During his 30 Bundesliga appearances for Wolfsberg last season, the 21-year-old helped his side keep 12 clean sheets after they finished in fourth place in the German top flight.
Lacroix is one of Europe’s most talented young defenders and possesses the pace which our backline desperately lacks, while also proving he has a Alderweireld-like ability to play long, raking passes into the opposition’s area.
Tottenham’s defensive options need a massive overhaul with Eric Dier and Davinson Sanchez having struggled on more than one occasion last season, while Toby Alderweireld has been linked with a move away this summer.
