Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a whole host of defensive midfielders this January including the likes of Tanguy Ndombele, Franck Kessie and Sander Berge.
With news that Mousa Dembele is close to making a move to China and with Victor Wanyama’s injury troubles, it comes as no surprise that the club wishes to strengthen its numbers in the middle of the park.
The latest midfielder to be linked with a move to North London is Borussia Dortmund’s, Julian Weigl. The 23-year-old midfielder seems to have fallen out of favour at the German club, having featured only six times for them this season.
According to a report from German publication BILD, it appears like Tottenham have registered their interested in the highly rated midfielder, who has four caps for the German national team.
However, the report also states that Dortmund aren’t keen on letting Weigl go in January as they wish to hold on to him as cover for Axel Witsel. The report further claims that Paris Saint-Germain and Roma are also interested in signing the player.
Weigl could potentially face Spurs as they take on Dortmund in a Champions League round of 16 tie next month if he remains with the Bundesliga outfit.
