Report: Tottenham make approach to sign 22-year-old attacker

Tottenham Hotspur have made an approach to sign Sporting Lisbon striker/wide-man Jovane Cabral, according to Football Insider.

Jose Mourinho was keen to sign a new forward during the January window following Harry Kane’s hamstring tear, but was unable to bolster his attacking options (Evening Standard).

The Portuguese’s problems were compounded when Heung-min Son fractured his arm in February which club the club without a senior out and out attacker.

Cabral is under contract with Sporting until 2023 but the Liga Nos side are said to be prepared to listen to offers.

The Cape Verde international scored six goals in 21 appearances in all competitions for his club last season (transfermarkt) after missing a large portion of the first half of the campaign through injury.

The 22-year-old is comfortable operating on either side of the pitch and enjoys cutting back inside

SpursWeb Opinion

Tottenham need a target man rather than a wide man.  We are desperately requiring a player who can come off the bench when we are chasing a result and need to go direct and rely on knock downs. Llorente did it so well towards the end of his time at the club and it is something which we have not replaced.
