Report: Tottenham make contact with RB Leipzig over possible right-back signing

Reports from France claim that Tottenham Hotspur have made contact with RB Leipzig over the availability of defender Nordi Mukiele.

It is no secret at this point that Spurs are in the market for a right-back this summer, with several names being linked over the past few weeks.

Spurs have been long-term admirers of Mukiele, having tried to sign the defender before he joined the German outfit from Montpellier in 2018, according to Sky Sports.

The 22-year-old has gone from strength to strength this season and is one of the many rising stars in Julian Nagelsmann’s side.

L’Equipe (23/04/20, page 7 – as relayed by GFFN) report that the defender’s performance against the Lilywhites in the Champions League made a real impression on the Spurs hierarchy, who have already established contact with the player’s entourage.

The report adds that Atletico Madrid and an unnamed Italian side have also contacted Leipzig to enquire about Mukiele’s ability.

So, it looks like Tottenham may not have a free run at the defender if they wish to sign him this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

At this rate, it looks as if we might be linked with every single right-back in Europe before the transfer market shuts. I still believe that Max Aarons is likely the club’s first-choice and that the many others we’ve been linked with are contingency options in case we aren’t able to land the Norwich star.
