Report: Tottenham make decision on Tanganga ahead of transfer deadline

Sky Sports have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have decided not to let Japhet Tanganga leave the club this transfer window.

Tanganga has been handed several starts under his belt over recent weeks due to the injuries to Eric Dier and Cristian Romero.

It was reported last week that AC Milan were set to meet with Tottenham to discuss a loan deal for Tanganga (CalcioMercato).

However, Sky Sports have now revealed that Tottenham have decided to reject Milan’s advances for the 22-year-old.

The report explains that Conte has been happy with the defender’s recent performances in the absence of his first-choice centre-backs.

The Spurs head coach has allegedly informed Tanganga he wants him in the squad for the remainder of the season.

It is stated that the North London club are not looking to bring in a central defender before Monday’s transfer deadline and are instead concentrating their efforts to improve other areas of the team.

However, the report adds that signing a left-sided centre-back is a priority for Conte in the summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

It would not have made sense for Tottenham to let Tanganga go unless they signed another centre-back this window.

That would have left Conte in a difficult situation were there to be a couple of injuries to his defenders over the coming months.

However, it does seem like Tanganga is not part of Conte’s long-term plans. So, Spurs could cash in on the 22-year-old in the summer.
