Report: Tottenham make enquiry about Portuguese international

According to the latest reports from Portugal, Tottenham Hotspur are showing an interest in signing Benfica midfielder, Pizzi this summer.

The experienced midfielder enjoyed a prolific season for the Eagles last time out, registering 28 goals and 18 assists in all competitions (transfermarkt.com).

While the 30-year-old has been one of the most consistent midfielders in the Primeira Liga for many years, he has been finding the back of the net with astonishing regularity over the past two seasons.

The Portugal international is also rather versatile, capable of operating on either flank, as well as in an attacking midfield role.

A Bola have revealed that Jose Mourinho wants Spurs to snap up the experienced midfielder and the North Londoners have thus enquired about his availability.

It is revealed that Benfica are ready to sell Pizzi for around €20million (£18m) this summer. However, the report adds that there has been no news regarding an official bid from Spurs for the Benfica star.

Spurs Web Opinion

Based on the profile of attacking midfielders we have been linked with recently (David Brooks, Nicolo Zaniolo, and now Pizzi), it does appear as if Jose wants to bring in one more attacking option who can operate through the middle as well as out wide. I fear that probably means the end of Erik Lamela’s time at Spurs.
