Report: Tottenham make promise to Harry Kane amidst transfer speculation

Football Insider claim the Tottenham hierarchy have promised Harry Kane that his opinion will be taken on board when hiring a new head coach as the North London club attempt to keep hold of the striker.

The report states that Spurs first began talks with Kane regarding a new deal back in February but senior figures at the club are said to be ‘growing increasingly worried’ that he might not sign a new deal.

In an effort to keep hold of the centre-forward, Spurs have allegedly promised him that he would have a ‘big say’ in the appointment process of the next Tottenham manager.

Daniel Levy and co are said to be willing to ‘pull out all the stops’ to convince Kane to stay and have thus assured him that he would be allowed to influence their manager search as a part of their contract talks.

Football Insider have asserted that the England captain could be ‘tempted’ to stay at Tottenham but the identity of the next head coach could be key in his decision.

The publication adds that Kane would prefer the club to appoint a more attack-minded manager this summer.

One would imagine that Kane’s number one preference might have been for Pochettino to come back, which is an idea that Spurs have passed on.

For the moment, it seems like the North London club’s hierarchy are putting all their eggs in the Julian Nagelsmann basket.
