Report: Tottenham make striker number one target for next summer

According to a report from CalcioMercato, Tottenham Hotspur are set to make a renewed attempt to snap up Fiorentina striker Dusan Vlahovic next year after failing to sign him this summer.

Vlahovic was heavily linked with a move to Tottenham all summer, with Alasdair Gold even revealing last month that the 21-year-old was Fabio Paratici’s number one striker target.

Spurs were reportedly competing with Atletico Madrid for the centre-forward, who scored 21 goals in the Serie A last season.

However, despite having just two years left to run on his contract, the Serbian international ended up staying put at the Artemio Franchi Stadium.

The striker has subsequently admitted he received several proposals to leave the Viola over the summer but was keen on staying at the club.

CalcioMercato have now claimed that Tottenham have not yet given up hope of bringing Vlahovic to North London despite failing to get the deal over the line this summer.

The report explains that Spurs now view the Fiorentina striker as their number one priority signing next summer.

It is suggested that the Lilywhites might once again face competition from Atletico Madrid for the centre-forward.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham will likely have to prepare a contingency plan in case Kane leaves next summer. So, it is not surprising that they are eyeing a move for Vlahovic.

If Kane does not put sign a new contract, one would likely expect him to leave next summer. It will be the last window where Spurs can get a sizable fee for him as the striker would have just two years left on his deal.
