Report: Tottenham man aiming for ‘sweet farewell’ this summer out on loan

Mundo Deportivo have claimed that Sergio Reguilon is aiming for a ‘sweet farewell’ from Atletico Madrid after a difficult season.

Reguilon has endured a frustrating campaign on loan at Colchoneros, having missed a significant chunk of the season due to injuries.

The Spaniard has also been unable to break into the team when he has been fit, having played just 98 minutes for the club across five appearances, failing to make a single start all season (Transfermarkt).

The 26-year-old has been out of action with a hamstring injury since February 20 but Mundo Deportivo now suggest that he has recovered from his problem and is expected to rejoin the group ahead of Atletico’s clash against Real Betis.

The publication adds that Reguilon is hoping to end his spell in the Spanish capital on a positive note by impressing in the final two months and that he could now get the chance to do so since first-choice left-back Reinildo is out injured until the end of the season.

The on-loan Tottenham man will thus hope to convince Diego Simeone to play him by impressing in training.

I expect Simeone to continue playing Yannick Carrasco at left wing-back despite Reguilon now being back to fitness as the Spaniard has seemingly failed to win the trust of the Atletico boss.

Tottenham would be hoping that the 26-year-old gets some game time and impresses over the next two months so that there will be some suitors for him in the summer.
