Tottenham youngster Bryan Gil has made it into the top 20 nominees for the 2021 Golden Boy award, according to Goal.com.
The Golden Boy award is handed to the player who is deemed to be the brightest talent under 21 years of age in European football in a calendar year.
The accolade was won by former Tottenham midfielder, Rafael van der Vaart, in its inaugural edition in 2003 while superstars like Wayne Rooney, Lionel Messi and Kylian Mbappe have also won it in the past (MEN).
Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland took home the award last year on the back of his impressive start to life at Borussia Dortmund.
Gil, who has had a promising start to life at Spurs following his summer move from Sevilla, was one of the 40 nominees named last month for this year’s prize.
The final shortlist of 20 has now been announced and that Tottenham man has made the cut.
Other nominees in the final shortlist include Borussia Dortmund’s Jude Bellingham, Barcelona’s Pedri, Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga, Manchester United’s Mason Greenwood and Arsenal’s Bukayo Saka.

Gil is unlikely to win the award, given some of the other names that have made it into the shortlist. However, to make the final 20 will certainly do the youngster’s confidence a world of good.
