Report: Tottenham man named as a shock target for Manchester United

Oliver Brown has revealed on The Daily Telegraph (as relayed by Sky Sports News) that Ange Postecoglou is one of the managers on Manchester United’s radar to replace Erik Ten Hag.

Postecoglou detractors have increased in number and become louder over the last couple of months due to Tottenham’s struggles. However, there is certainly no suggestion that Spurs are thinking about replacing him.

In fact, reports have indicated just the opposite, with various outlets suggesting recently that Spurs are going to back the Australian with a big transfer kitty this summer (Football Transfers).

Is Postecoglou a target for Man United?

Brown has now revealed that Postecoglou is one of the names under consideration by the United hierarchy, who are now preparing a shortlist of managers to replace Ten Hag.

The journalist makes it clear that many other options are also being considered, including Ruben Amorim, Thomas Tuchel, Roberto De Zerbi and Thomas Frank.

In addition, it is explained that Gareth Southgate and Graham Potter are also candidates for the Old Trafford hot seat since they have both worked with Dan Ashworth, who will take over as Man Utd’s sporting director this summer.

Spurs Web Opinion

There is nothing about the Man Utd job that would be particularly appealing to Postecoglou other than the fact that they are a huge club.

The reality is that their squad at the moment is quite shambolic and there are not too many players at Old Trafford who would be comfortable playing in the Australian’s system.
