Report: Tottenham man nominated for prestigious FIFA award

FIFA have unveiled the list of nominees for The Best Awards 2021 and Antonio Conte has made the shortlist for The Best Men’s Coach award.

Last season,  Conte guided Inter Milan to their first Serie A title win in over a decade.

Inter also put an end to Juventus’ monopoly on the Scuddeto, which incidentally began during Conte’s time in Turin ten years ago.

The achievement has seen the Tottenham head coach listed among the seven nominees for The Best Men’s Coach award.

Other nominees include Pep Guardiola, who guided Manchester City to the Premier League title and the Carabao Cup, and Thoms Tuchel, who managed to turn Chelsea’s fortunes around and take them to the Champions League title.

In addition, Hansi Flick, Diego Simeone, Lionel Sebastian Scaloni, and Roberto Mancini have also made the shortlist.

Public voting for each category will be open until December 10 and FIFA will eventually announce three finalists for each award early in 2022.

The final winners will then be revealed in an online ceremony on January 17, 2022.

Spurs Web Opinion

Conte certainly deserves his nomination but it is unlikely that he will win the award. However, it will likely be a close-run vote as there is no one outstanding candidate for the award. I would not be surprised to see someone like Mancini winning it after Italy’s heroics in the European Championship.
