Report: Tottenham man on Newcastle’s radar for January transfer window

According to a report from The Sun, Newcastle United are keeping an eye on Tottenham midfielder Harry Winks ahead of the January transfer window.

Winks was linked with a move away from Spurs during the summer transfer window after he struggled for game time for the majority of last season under Jose Mourinho.

However, the 25-year-old ended up staying put at his boyhood club as he was allegedly keen on fighting for a place in the starting eleven under Nuno Espirito Santo.

Things have gone to plan for Winks so far this season, with the midfielder having started just one Premier League game for the Lilywhites.

The Athletic have claimed that the 25-year-old has admirers in both Spain and Italy.

However, if The Sun’s latest report is to be believed, Winks could be on his way to St James’ Park in January. The report explains that Newcastle’s Saudi owners are keen to build the team steadily rather than going for a revolution.

Winks is thought to be among the names on their radar ahead of the January transfer window.

Spurs Web Opinion

Tottenham have treated Winks unfairly over the last couple of years as he has never been handed a consistent run in the side to prove himself.

While I still believe that the 25-year-old can become a top player, it is starting to look increasingly unlikely that he will live up to his potential at Spurs.
