Report: Tottenham manager target is seen as ‘ideal solution’ by Real Madrid

According to SportBild, rumoured Tottenham managerial target Xabi Alonso is seen as the ‘ideal’ choice to replace Carlo Ancelotti at the helm of Real Madrid.

Tottenham’s interest in Alonso first came to light a couple of days ago when De Telegraaf reported that the Spaniard had become the shock front-runner for the Spurs hot seat.

The report claimed that the Bayer Leverkusen boss’ experience as a player at many of Europe’s top clubs makes him a more desirable candidate for Tottenham compared to the likes of Arne Slot.

However, if Bild’s latest update is to be believed, the North London club could face competition from Madrid for Alonso’s services.

The publication states that Ancelotti’s departure is ‘very likely’ if Los Blancos are eliminated in the semi-finals of the Champions League.

It is said that Alonso is viewed as the ‘ideal solution’ by Real supremo Florentino Perez, who believes that the Leverkusen boss can develop into a top coach.

The report explains that the 41-year-old was a youth coach at Los Blancos and coached Real Sociedad B in the Spanish second and third tiers before taking over at the Bundesliga club, with the Madrid hierarchy said to have followed his ‘every step’.

Bild add that according to Perez, Alonso ’embodies everything a Real Madrid coach needs to exude’ as he is a gentleman with ‘great competence, experience and leadership qualities’.

So, if they see him as someone who is destined to manage Los Blancos one day, that tells you a lot about the Spaniard’s talent and his personality.
