Report: Tottenham may have to battle Arsenal for £45m midfield target

CaughtOffside have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are set to battle Arsenal and a couple of other clubs for Everton midfielder Amadou Onana this summer.

Tottenham’s interest in Onana first came to light last month when Spurs insider Paul O’Keefe revealed that the club were plotting a move for the Everton star.

A couple of weeks ago, TEAMtalk revealed that the Lilywhites are expected to face competition for the midfielder’s signature from Barcelona.

Race heating up for Amadou Onana

If CaughtOffside’s latest update is to be believed, Spurs and Barca have been joined in the race for Onana by both Arsenal and Newcastle.

It is claimed that both the North London clubs have been impressed by the 22-year-old’s displays at Goodison Park this season and that he is ‘firmly’ on both sides’ radar.

The report states that Everton would allow the Belgian international to leave the club this summer for a fee in the region of £45m.

The publication adds that Tottenham are expected to partly fund the move for Onana by offloading Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg for £20m.

Based on the reports over the last few weeks, it appears as if Onana and Ederson are the two number sixes who are at the top of Postecoglou’s wishlist while Gallagher is the Australian’s top target for the number eight role.
