Report: Tottenham may have to wait a month before they can sell midfielder

According to Tipsbladet, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg is only expected to finalise his exit from Tottenham Hotspur after Denmark’s European Championship campaign is over.

Hojbjerg is likely to leave Tottenham this summer

The outlet backs up the same information we have heard from a number of sources over the last few months by stating that Hojbjerg’s four-year stay at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is expected to come to an end this summer.

It is explained that Spurs and the midfielder have agreed to ‘go their separate ways’ ahead of the new season after being unable to agree a deal for an exit during the last two transfer windows.

However, it is revealed that a move will likely only come to fruition once Hojbjerg’s participation in the Euros is done, with the player focused on doing well for his country in Germany.

Hojbjerg will not leave Spurs until after the Euros

The report adds that Tottenham have already sounded out clubs about the former Southampton man’s availability, making it clear to potential suitors that they are open to a sale.

The publication claims that the Lilywhites have not set an asking price and would be open to negotiating a lower price, given that the experienced midfielder has just a year left on his deal.

Ange Postecoglou already has the likes of Bentancur, Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison, Skipp and more to choose from, not to mention any new signings this summer and the arrival of Lucas Bergvall.

Spurs Web Opinion

I would not be surprised if Napoli or Atletico Madrid look to complete an early deal for Hojbjerg rather than wait until the end of the Euros as those clubs would be aware that the interest in the Tottenham man could mount as we get deeper into the transfer window.

For Spurs, waiting may not be a bad thing as Hojbjerg has been in good form for Denmark of late, so could end up raising his own price tag at the Euros.
