Report: Tottenham met with young Ligue 1 manager in ‘recent days’

SportItalia have revealed that Fabio Paratici has met with Reims head coach William Still to discuss the managerial vacancy at Tottenham.

If reports over recent days are to be believed, Julian Nagelsmann, Luis Enrique, Arne Slot and Vincent Kompany are now the leading candidates to replace Antonio Conte, with Spurs expected to hold face-to-face talks with Enrique and Slot shortly (90 min).

SportItalia have now thrown another name into the hat in the form of Still, claiming that Tottenham have already spoken to the Reims boss.

The Englishman joined Reims as assistant to manager Oscar Garcia and took over as caretaker boss when the 49-year-old left in October of last year.

After leading the side for an undefeated stretch of five games, he was appointed as manager for the rest of the 2022–23 season, becoming the youngest manager in Europe’s top five leagues at 30 years of age.

Reims have outperformed expectations under Still this season, currently sitting eighth in the Ligue 1 table.

SportItalia have now asserted that Still has now emerged as a shock candidate to take over at Tottenham, with Paratici alleged to have met him in Switzerland over ‘recent days’.

Spurs Web Opinion

While Paratici is officially not allowed to work following his worldwide ban, he would likely be involved in the background in Tottenham’s efforts to secure a new head coach.

I suspect that the talks with Still were merely exploratory for Spurs to find out more about the 30-year-old.

Given the Reims boss’ lack of experience, I do not think he is likely to be a consideration for such a high-pressure job.
