It has been widely reported over the last month or so that Tottenham are keen on adding a number six to their squad this summer, with Ederson thought to be one of the names on their wishlist.

The latest such update came from The Mirror a couple of days ago, with the outlet explaining that both the Lilywhites and Newcastle United have watched the Brazilian closely and are keen on securing his services.

However, the report suggested that Atalanta would not want to let the 24-year-old leave after managing to qualify for the Champions League, particularly since fellow midfielder Teun Koopemeiners is expected to depart the club this summer.

Ederson could cost just £35m this summer

It was suggested that the likes of Spurs need to offer around £50m in order to lure Ederson away from Bergamo this summer.

However, this has now been contradicted by HITC, who now say that Spurs and Newcastle United have also been joined in the race for the Atalanta star’s signature by Man Utd and Liverpool.

It is explained that with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg expected to depart Spurs this summer, Ederson is seen by the North London club as the ideal replacement.

The publication asserts that the Atalanta star could be available for just £35m this summer, making the deal a ‘no brainer’ for Ange Postecoglou’s men.

Atalanta have always driven a hard bargain for their players as we saw with Rasmus Hojlund’s sale to Man Utd last summer. Now that they have additional Champions League revenue also coming in, there is no chance that they would consider selling Ederson for £35m.
