Report: Tottenham monitoring 22-year-old defensive midfielder

The Daily Mail have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are monitoring Celtic midfielder Ismaila Soro ahead of the summer transfer window.

Soro initially struggled to get a run of games under his belt at Celtic after arriving from Israeli side Bnei Yehuda in a £2.7m deal during the January of last year.

However, since Neil Lennon’s departure, the 22-year-old has got plenty of game time under his belt and has demonstrated fantastic potential.

Tottenham already a promising young defensive midfielder in their squad in Oliver Skipp, who will return from his loan spell at Norwich in the summer.

However, The Mail report that the North Londoners are keen to bolster their midfield ranks ahead of next season and are monitoring Soro’s progress.

The report does not mention how much Celtic are likely to demand for the Ivorian this summer but it is revealed that a transfer might not prove straight forward.

This is because there could be obstacles in getting a work permit for the midfielder should he make a move down south.
