Report: Tottenham monitoring this manager as an option for post-Pochettino era

The Daily Mail are reporting that Tottenham are monitoring ex-Juventus manager Massimiliano Allegri to replace Mauricio Pochettino if the Argentine is to leave North London.

Tottenham’s terrible start to the season has led to some pundits predicting that Pochettino will leave before the season is over.

The Mail say that Allegri has been one of the most in-demand managers in world football for leading Premier League clubs since he left Juventus in the summer.

He won five Scudetto’s in a row with the Italian giants and reached two Champions League finals. His team also famously came from behind to beat Spurs over two legs in the Champions League in 2018 (Wikipedia).

However, if Spurs do want Allegri they are likely to have competition for his signature as Manchester United have been strongly linked to the manager (Express).

Spurs Web Opinion

While Allegri is a great manager, I still have faith that Pochettino will be able to turn this torrid run of form around. After all, with all the great moments he has brought the club, he deserves to be backed.

However, if he does walk away at the end of the season, then Allegri would be a great appointment. He is a manager who is tactically versatile and is able to adapt his squad to the needs of the moment. This would be invaluable because of the lack of depth in Spurs’ squad.
