Report: Tottenham ‘moving decisively’ for midfielder – January deal unlikely

TuttoMercatoWeb have now claimed that Tottenham Hotspur are ‘moving decisively’ to try and sign Adrien Rabiot but the report suggests the midfielder is not particularly keen to leave Juventus in January.

Multiple publications over recent weeks have backed Spurs to make an approach for Rabiot in January.

The print edition of Corriere dello Sport (21/12/22 as relayed by Sport Witness) suggested that Antonio Conte’s men were the front-runners for the midfielder while The Times reported last week that the French international had been offered to both Spurs and Arsenal.

TMW have now named Rabiot as one of the players who could leave the Allianz Stadium in January, explaining that the midfielder does not intend to renew his current contract, which runs out next summer.

The report states that the former Paris Saint-Germain man is ‘highly sought after’, with Tottenham ‘moving decisively’ and Arsenal also ‘pressing’ for the player’s services.

However, the publication also adds that Rabiot ‘is inclined’ to make a decision on his future only at the end of the season.

Spurs Web Opinion

It sounds like Juventus are keen to find a buyer for Rabiot in January but the player himself wants to run his contract down and leave on a free transfer next summer. I do not think Tottenham would mind waiting until next summer for the Frenchman as a number six is unlikely to be a priority for Conte in January.
