Report: Tottenham mull over move for relegated Premier League pair

The Express have claimed that Tottenham Hotspur hold an interest in Watford’ Pervis Estupinan and Troy Deeney following the Hornets’ relegation to the Premier League.

It was reported last month that Tottenham had identified Deeney as a potential backup to Harry Kane and were looking to sign the 32-year-old on a bargain deal (Daily Mail).

Some Spurs fans have reacted positively on social media to rumours that the club may look to bring in the Watford skipper.

Estupinan has also been mentioned as a target for Spurs this summer (Sport), with the left-back earning rave reviews during his loan spell at Osasuna this season (90min).

Despite not having played a single game for Watford since arriving at Vicarage Road in 2016, the 22-year-old has built a solid reputation in Spain over the years with his various loan spells.

The Express claim that Spurs will mull over a move for the left-back as well as Deeney this summer as Watford get ready for a summer exodus.

It is suggested that the North Londoners face competition from both Chelsea and Barcelona for Estupinan’s signature.

Spurs Web Opinion

Deeney seems to split opinion among the Spurs fan base but I believe he could be an excellent addition to our squad. He can perform a similar role to the one Llorente did for us for a couple of seasons. While the speculation linking us with Estupinan does not seem to be going away, I doubt we are going to be in the market for a left-back this summer.
