Report: Tottenham name their price to Celtic for Joe Hart

According to The Daily Record, Tottenham Hotspur are demanding a transfer fee of £1m from Celtic for Joe Hart.

Hart signed for Spurs as a free agent last summer and the former England number one served as Hugo Lloris’ main understudy last season.

However, the goalkeeper has reportedly been told that he is not part of Nuno Espirito Santo’s plans after Tottenham completed the capture of Pierluigi Gollini on a season-long loan from Atalanta.

Reports first emerged a few days ago that Celtic had opened talks over a deal for Hart.

It is thought that the 34-year-old has no intention of being third choice at Spurs and is keen on a move to Celtic Park in search of regular first-team football.

The Daily Record have now revealed that the Scottish giants were hoping to land Hart on a free transfer.

However, Spurs have told Ange Postecoglou’s side to forget about signing the experienced goalkeeper for nothing, demanding a £1m instead.

It is suggested that Celtic are to be prioritising singing a new goalkeeper this summer, with Watford’s Ben Foster also on the club’s radar.

Spurs Web Opinion

Getting any sort of transfer fee for Hart will prove a challenge given his age and the fact that he is now into the final 12 months of his contract in North London. If Celtic cannot hammer out a deal for Hart, I would not be surprised if Spurs cut a deal with the goalkeeper and look to release him.
