Report: Spurs named as ‘interested’ party in RB Leipzig star – He refuses to comment on future

RB Leipzig midfielder Konrad Laimer has refused to comment on his future amidst reported interest from Tottenham, according to FAZ.

Laimer has been enjoying a strong spell of form since the turn of the year and has seemingly put last season’s major ankle setback behind him.

The Austria international has contributed to five goals in his last six outings, which has lifted Leipzig into the final Champions League place in the Bundesliga (Transfermarkt).

Laimer’s form has allegedly captured the attention of Tottenham, who Bild name as potential suitors for the 24-year-old this summer.

But German publication FAZ, which notes Spurs as the ‘most interested’ party, now claims Laimer himself is currently not in the mood for entertaining any talk about his future at this stage of the campaign.

The report states he ‘does not want to comment’ on any rumours linking him with a move away from Leipzig, where he is contracted for another year.

It also claims he wants to remain focused on the rest of the season with the second leg of their Europa League semi-final still to play and a DFB-Pokal final to look forward to.

Spurs Web Opinion

Laimer would be an excellent option to bring in this summer, especially with him having a year left on his contract which could pressure Leipzig.

But it is commendable that he is only focused on his current club and blocking the outside noise, as Leipzig do still have quite a few important games coming up.
