Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly in a race to sign Barcelona right-back, Emerson, this summer, despite there being heavy interest in the youngster.
Emerson signed for Barcelona from Atletico Mineiro back in the summer of 2019, with Sport Witness claiming that the Spanish giants shelled out €12m.
Barcelona then received €6m of that fee back in order to loan Emerson to Real Betis until 2021, a spell they can cut short but only if they pay €12m in compensation.
Record now report that Benfica are interested in signing Emerson on a permanent deal, although they face a race for his signature.
Tottenham, Bayer Leverkusen, and Inter Milan are all said to be interested in the 21-year-old, while Real Betis’ stance on the full-back is not revealed.
The right-back has played 22 games for Betis this season, scoring three goals in the process (Wikipedia).
Spurs are currently short on right-backs after selling Kieran Trippier to Atletico Madrid last summer and loaning Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton in January.
