Report: Tottenham not scared away by club’s £28.3m asking price for forward

Jeunes Footeux have revealed that Tottenham Hotspur have not been put off by the price they have been quoted by Montpellier for Elye Wahi.

Wahi has established himself as one of the best young attacking talents in Ligue 1 since first breaking into Montpellier’s starting eleven around two and a half years ago.

The 20-year-old, who can play across the front three, has scored 12 times and provided two assists in 25 league games so far this season (Transfermarkt).

Tottenham’s interest in Wahi first came to light back in February, when Telefoot claimed that the Lilywhites were monitoring the youngster ahead of the summer transfer window.

Jeunes Footeux have now backed up Tottenham’s interest in the Frenchman, explaining that the North London club are following the player ‘very closely’.

The publication states that amidst interest from the North London club, Montpellier have set a €32m (£28.3m) price on their crowned jewel ahead of the summer.

However, it is explained that the price is ‘not enough’ to scare away Tottenham or the other Premier League clubs who hold an interest in the France Under-21 international.

Wahi looks like he has the potential to be the next big attacking talent to emerge from French football.

Tottenham could perhaps consider signing the 20-year-old and loaning him back to Montpellier, which might give them an advantage over other suitors.
