Report: Tottenham not willing to meet target’s wage demands

Tottenham Hotspur could be set to withdraw their interest in Gareth Bale after the latest reports from Spain indicate that the Lilywhites are unwilling to meet the Welshman’s wage demands.

Being linked with a move for Bale has almost become a transfer market tradition for Tottenham and the January transfer window was no exception.

Daniel Levy reportedly made a big effort to bring Bale back to North London in the final days of the transfer window (Daily Mail) but he once again ended up staying put at Real.

Spanish publication, Sport, now reports that Zinedine Zidane has told the Madrid board to sell the Welshman as he doesn’t see him as a part of his plans.

However, it looks like Los Blancos are struggling to move the former Spurs star on due to his substantial £350,000-per-week wages (Express).

It is revealed that interest from both Spurs and Manchester United for Bale has quietened as neither club is ready to meet these wages.

The report asserts that the 30-year-old is happy to stay at Madrid and see out his contract.

No club is going to be in a position to pay Bale anywhere near £350,000-per-week, particularly given how injury prone he has been over the last few years.
