Report: Tottenham offer could be ‘too tempting to refuse’ for Serie A club

NapoliCalcioLive have claimed that Tottenham are now plotting a big-money move for Napoli goalkeeper Alex Meret, which the Serie A club might not be able to turn down.

The report explains that Meret came close to leaving Napoli last summer but ended up staying as the club’s pursuit of Keylor Navas fell through.

Since then, the Italy international has turned his fortunes around and has been flawless between the sticks all season for the recently crowned Serie A champions.

However, Meret enters the final year of his contract this June and it is said that although Napoli have the option to extend it by another year, they might not take it up.

This is because the goalkeeper is on Tottenham’s radar, with the North London club said to be ‘ready to put €40m (£34.8m) on the table’ for the 26-year-old.

The report states that such an offer would be ‘too tempting’ for Napoli to turn down, with Luciano Spalleti’s men said to have already identified Empoli’s Guglielmo Vicario and Bari’s Elia Caprile as potential replacements for Meret.

Spurs Web Opinion

There has not been a single report in the British press to suggest that Meret is one of Tottenham’s top goalkeeping targets this summer.

So, Spurs fans should take these reports from Italy with a pinch of salt. It does appear like David Raya is likely to be the North London club’s number-one choice.
